Summer Holiday on a Budget

I don’t know about you, but I always look forward to the holidays! I get to spend quality time with the people I love and just relax. It’s so good for our mental health, I love it. The only thing down about it is how expensive it can get. So, in this post, I’ll be sharing with you some tips that will help you save money on your holidays.

1.Buy The Plane Ticket in Advance

Buying the plane ticket in months advance will make your trip less expensive.

2.Book in Advance

The activities that aren’t free and you really want to take part in, should be booked in advance. It will save you money and time.

3.Use Public Transportation

Instead of taxis or ubers, use public transportation, this will be a lot cheaper and a lot more fun because you’ll get to see more things and find better places.

4.Rent an Airbnb

Instead of staying in a hotel, rent an Airbnb. This will help you save a lot of money, especially if you have a big family.

5.Cook your Own Meals

Restaurants in places dedicated to tourism are extremely expensive. If you cook your meals, you’ll be able to save more money.

6.Free Fun

Do a little bit of research before heading to your destination, try to figure out where all the free fun is. In some cities, museums are free once a month. Finding this type of free fun will help you save money and still have a good time.

7.Travel Light

If you’re renting an Airbnb, make sure to rent one with a washer, this way you’ll be able to travel light and save money on you’re plane tickets.

These are all the tips I have for you, let me know if you have more in the comments down below.

Thank you for reading it, and I’ll see you in my next post.

Save Money on Your Self-Care

Self-care should be seen as a necessity. It really is a need, it does well to our body and mind.

On this post, I’m going to focus on the physical self-care and in the future, I’ll make a post about self-care investments for our mental health.

These are things I realized I was spending a lot of money on and to be quite honest with you, I’m not willing to give up on my self-care habits because they do make me feel more confident and more happy with myself. Instead, I decided to make a few changes in order to save money in the long-term.

1.Nail Kit

I absolutely love having my nails done, but I realized I was spending 120 dollars every month on them… that’s 1,440 dollars at the end of a year! So, I decided to buy a nail kit and start getting them done myself. The whole kit (with the UV light and all of those products) was 200$. I’ll be honest, it took me a few tries and a lot of Youtube videos to get them perfect, but it’s definitely worth it!

2.At Home Hair Treatment

My hair is super wavy and, personally, I think I look better with straight hair. So, twice a year I used to permanently straighten my hair at a salon. It is an expensive treatment so I thought I should try an “at home straightening treatment”.

The Cons are:

-It’s a two people job. I definitely couldn’t do it by myself, fortunately, my mum was able to help me with it;

-It doesn’t last as long as the professional one does;

-The application is a bit messy.

The Pros are:

-It feels like the chemicals are less strong (there are a few in the market that are natural and don’t have chemicals, but I’ve never tried them so I don’t know if they actually work.)

-They aren’t expensive;

-You can do them at the comfort of your own home;

-My mum and I definitely had a fun time whilst doing it.

Overall, it is a good investment, it makes you save money, and that is always a plus.

3.At Home Gym

This is one of my favourites. I really dislike going to the gym, I’m never 100% comfortable but, at the same time, I love working out. Also, my gym membership was quite expensive. I know I’m not the only one feeling this way about the gym, so I started to follow some Youtube workout videos. Then I bought weights, and I will buy more equipment. I already had a threat-mile at home, so that helped me a lot. I definitely recommend this tip.

4.Permanent Hair Removal

This was definitely something I had been thinking about getting for a while. I decided to invest in an IPL device. There are several prince ranges out there which is a really good thing, I don’t remember the exact price of mine, but I know it wasn’t more than 200 dollars. This really works, it takes a lot of treatments to make the hairs completely disappear but it so worth it. Unfortunately, the biggest con about this device is that it doesn’t work on every skin colour or hair colour, you’ll have to do a little research to figure out if it’s something you’ll want to get.

5.Teeth Whitening Kit

I’ve always been a bit sceptical about these, I always thought that only the whitening treatments at the dentist would work, until I tried them myself. I got mine at a pharmacy, so it was a little expensive but definitely less than going to the dentist doing the procedure. I recommend trying but just make sure to do a little research before you buy one, be sure that what you’re getting isn’t extremely aggressive to your teeth.

I hope these tips were useful and let me know which ones you’d like to try or already have tried.

Thank you for reading it, and I’ll see you in my next post.

The Best Way to Teach your Kids about Finance

Learning how to deal with our finances isn’t something that happens overnight. We definitely need to make some mistakes to understand what we should do with our money. The problem is when we make those mistakes in our adulthood, and let’s be honest, we all have been there. So, the only way we can prevent this from happening to our kids is by helping them to make financial mistakes while they’re young. The mistakes we want them to make are: having wrong priorities when it comes to buy things and not budget their money properly. How can it happen?

First- Earning the Money

1.Monthly Amount

Giving them a certain amount every month will mimic our salary.

2.Paid Chores

Give them chores that they don’t normally do and pay them for it, this will be similar to our extra hours at work.

Second- Their Goals

1.Goals

Help them write down all the things they want to buy, whether that’s toys, clothes, etc. Try to include something that would be in their “needs” category, if they were an adult.

2.Priorities

Have them write down the priorities of what they should get first.

3.Budget

Ask them if they think they should have a budget or not. If they think they do, help them make it but stick to what they think it’s correct.

Third- The Mistakes

1.Mistakes

They will understand that their priorities were wrong (because they’ll most likely choose something that they want instead of what they need to be on top of the list). They will also understand that they need a “Plan of Action” aka a budget to get what they need.

2.Help them

Acknowledge their mistakes will help so much in their future. They’re going to need you to explain how things should be done, and don’t forget to show them that the mistakes they made were good and that they should be proud of themselves for being able to recognise and overcome them.

3.Encourage

Now that they’ve done all this, encourage them to not give up and give them a present or something they’d love to have. Dealing with finances will become a positive thing for them!

Save Money on Grocery Shopping

Grocery shopping is something we all have to do, some people love others hate it but one thing everyone has in common is not wanting to spend a lot of money on it and if possible, save money! So, in today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you the most important tips I use to save money whenever I go grocery shopping.

1.Make a Budget

This is crucial. Knowing exactly how much you can spend on groceries will help you save so much money.

2. Make a Inventory

This might sound a bit crazy but trust me, it’s really helpful. Write down every single product you have. Make different lists: a food list (don’t forget to check the expiration date!), a hygiene list, a household list and a medicine list (again, check the dates).

3. Plan your Meals

Planning your meals will help you decrease the habit of buying unnecessary products. You’ll go to the shops knowing exactly what you need for your meals. I like to plan my meals weekly.

4. Make a Shopping List

Writing down everything you need will help you save money because you won’t buy what you don’t need.

5. Buy in Bolk and freeze

This is a great way to save money because you won’t be going to the shops frequently to buy fruit and veggies, that way, you won’t be tempted to buy things you actually don’t need. Also, this really good to make smoothies and soup!

All of these steps can be done with the help of a planner. Feel free to check these ones out: Money Planner (A5), Money Planner (A4).

Spring Break with Kids on a Budget

Making childhood memories with your kids is one of the most amazing parts of being a parent. Most parents want to enjoy their kids’ breaks from school to spend time with them and help them create new memories and special moments. Let’s face it, this can get a little expensive rather quickly. On today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you how you can have the best time with them, on a budget.

1.Travel within the Country

If you really want to go somewhere else and discover new cities or villages, then the cheapest option will be to travel within your country. I advise you to rent an Airbnb instead of a hotel because it will be less expensive. Also, make sure to do a little research on free activities that the city might have.

2. Games

Renting a place or going to some sort of park to play games with them would be really fun. You could do a bit of research on Pinterest about new games that your kids have never played before, and even prepare a bag of goodies for the winners. It would definitely be a fun memory for them.

3. Activities

Planning a week of activities within your city is also a really good idea. For example, one day it would be going to an Aquarium, other going to the Zoo, and maybe also going to a museum about the things that they’re passionate about. At the end of the week, each one them could have a basket with memories and cute things from the places you’ve been.

I hope you and your family have an amazing time together.

How to Save Money by being Organised

I’m a very organised person, I love to planning everything ahead, and I’m no different when it comes to finances. Since I started to be more and more organised, I realised that I was saving more money at the end of the month and thanks to it, I managed to save a lot more money!

Here’s how you can do it too.

1.Organise your Pantry and Kitchen

My pantry used to be a mess, and I’d find myself purchasing the same thing over and over because I thought I was out of it and in reality, it was just lost in the middle of the mess! So, one day I took everything out of the pantry and re-organised. This made a huge difference. I started saving more money because I stopped buying what I didn’t need.

2. Budget! Budget! Budget!

Writing down exactly how much you want to spend on each category will stop you from impulse shopping. It will help you to make better choices, and you’ll figure out how much you can start to add to your savings.

3. Plan!!

This tips goes along with the previous one. I started to write down my monthly budget, my expenses, bills, meal plans, etc! I started to have control of my money, and that made my savings increase a lot!

I’m extremely happy to announce that I’m launching a Monthly Money Planner! This Planner has a Budget Spread, a Savings Tracker, a Debt Tracker, an Expenses Tracker, a Bills Tracker, a No Spend Calender, a Meal Planner and more! I’ll leave the link here for you, and I hope this Planner helps you as much as it helped me!

What you should teach your kids about money

Unfortunately, money management isn’t something we learn in school, and because of that, most of us made a lot of managing mistakes when we reached adulthood. To prevent our future generations from making similar mistakes, we need to make sure they have the right knowledge to make their choices.

Here are 4 things you should teach your children.

1.Budgeting

This is something they should start learning from early on. This will not only help them in the future when dealing with their money, but it will also make them be more organized.

2. Type of Lifestyle

We grow up seeing people buying cars, houses and even lifestyles they can’t afford. This equals to debt! What kids should always have in the back of their minds is that they should only buy what they can afford. We need to show them that living under their means while they’re young, will bring them a better financial future.

3. The Importance of Savings

This goes along with the previous tip. Saving for what want will keep them away from debts. And savings also help when there’s some sort of emergency in our lives.

4. The Right Mindset Towards Money

People usually look at money like it’s a horrible thing. They always complain about paying bills and taxes, this is a quite negative money mindset. We need to teach them that money is an amazing thing that helps live a happy life, and paying bills and taxes is a good thing because it means we’re making money!

There are so many games on Pinterest to start teaching young children about this. It’s definitely something that will change their lives. I hope this post was useful.

Thank you for reading it, and I’ll see you in my next post.

Beauty and Self-care on a Budget

Disclaimer: The content of this post isn’t sponsored. I’m just sharing with you a tip that will benefit you and help you save a bit of money.

Taking care of our bodies and appearance is so important because it makes our self-esteem increase and confident people are happy people.

Today I want to share with you an online store that I’ve been a customer of for years now. This store makes taking care of yourself a bit less expensive.

www.maquibeauty.com is actually a Spanish website that only ships to the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

They always have sales going on. They sell makeup products, hair products, etc. The brands go from drug-store/cheaper to high-end.

They’re all original products but less expensive. If you love makeup as I do, then you’ll feel like you are a kid in a candy shop. There are several men products as well!

Like I said previously, I’ve been a customer for years and I’ve never had a problem with them.

This post was a bit different than what I normally post, but I thought it would be nice to share some tips like this. So, I decided to start a new category on my blog called Hacks, and I hope they’ll be as useful to you as they are for me.

I’ll see you in my next post.
